replacing controllers

I have a esp16lx rainbird controller that the display is disappearing on. Not wanting to buy a 16 space controller when i need 12 spaces can i buy 2 each 6 space controllers and set controller a1 to start and controller a2 to start when a1 is done?

You can do that if you wish. I recommend that you don't. You might have a problem figuring out the wiring. Meaning you might have to connect a ground wire between the two controllers. It depends.

Do yourself a favor and stick to a 12 station controller.

Maybe you can fix the controller you have. Tell us about the fading out part. When does this happen exactly?

You might be able to find just the faceplate for your controller.

replacing controllers

The display numbers and letters are fading and you can't see them completely and that makes it hard to read. I have checked with rain bird and there are no parts available.
