That the breaks. I would use the irritrol 2400T, any company that can blame the problem on something or someone else usually does. Buy the irritrol valves as the toros give out, the irritrol 2400T has had the same design for the past 20 years, so in the future if they happen to fail, you can buy a new one and unscrew the old inseides, and plop in the new ones, without taking out the valve

Hope everything goes well

Thanks

Thanks, Ray. I manually opened them and flushed, but they were still unresponsive, so I just replaced them. I'm going to replace them with a different brand (Irritrol perhaps) as they fail in the future.

Toro tech support was barely sympathetic when I called them: they implied the failures were due to having the lines blown out in the fall.<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

P.S. I use Irritrol 2400T valves for my systems, found on sprinkler warehouse store (professional quality, not hardware)

Thanks

Hey,
Each company has its click. (hutner = rotor, toro = spray, rainbird = nozzles) and so forth. Toro valves i wouldn't trust, just like i wouldnt trust any thing from a hardware store, there might be some dirt in the valves. If they are not opening or closing they may be dirty. Open the valves and clean out well, flushing the liness. Some dirt, rocks, etc would do this

Let me know what you find!

Thanks
Ray

Toro Valve reliability?

Last year (spring 2002), I installed my own system will all Toro hardware. When I fired up my system this year, 4 of my 9 valves failed and needed to be replaced (#53380 3/4" in-line valves). I had the system blown out by a local irrigation company in November. Granted, NY had a nasty winter this year, but a 50% failure rate seems awfully high. So, any ideas on what's going on? 3 of the failed valves would not open; the other opened, then would not close when that zone's timer expired. Do I need to look at a different manufacturer? Buy a better model? (There's only a 1 year warranty on this model.) Any help would be appreciated...
