How many common wires are connected to your circuit board? Sounds like that could be the issue.

Use your multimeter and check the resistance of zones 5-8. It's the only way to know what's going on.

non-working zones

I have an 12 zone rainbird with 8 zones in use. All worked fine until very recently. Now the first four work and the next four will not. Have I got a bad common wire that work 5-8 or controller board
