FYI they dont make the RMX-1 remote control anymore
its now the LIMR remote, that port is solely for that use as well.
Just checkin [
]. I think what you are refering to is the plug in for the optional RMX-1 module, which operates a remote control. You can turn on the system by remote from the field for diagnostics and whatnot. I am not too familiar with Rainbird, but that is what I assume the port is for. This is a link for information about it.

Ha, Ha, Ha.... No I'm not that stupid. If you look there is a communications port. It's used to attach remote control devices. I'm wondering if this is a serial port, or is it looking for contact closure.
That is interesting, never thought of that before. I could see how it could be mistaken. C or COM on a irrigation controller generally means the common wire terminal.
Com port? A terminal marked 'com' is going to be the valve common wire - no computer need apply.
Rainbird ESP-LX Com Port
Can anyone give me any details on the com port on the ESP controllers? Can I connect this to my computer?
