Well thanks all for your answers. I just got off the phone with a intermatic technician and he said it is the timer motor. I just needed to remove a few screws and get the part number, for $30 its fixed. Thanks so much for the help!![] John

Boots it probably right there John. I thought it was a little odd you only had one valve. Go figure it would be a pump question that tricked me. Like I've stated before. We don't use pumps where I live in So. Cal. Good eye Boots. Even the great and legendary mrfixit is human. =)

Google is your friend. Looks like a clock designed to run an indexing valve. Stay with it. They can be repaired.

Ok, if you have to use 220 and you want a remote, I suggest you go with the Hunter ICC. It will accommodate 120 or 230 volts. If you're using 120 volts I'd go with the Pro C. Hunter offers two remotes. One for up to 400 ft. One for up to 2 miles. Here's your links.

I'm not sure about getting this timer fixed. I've had it for 13 years or so and it looks pretty good. Its pretty easy to work with just manual switches and pins. I looked at the digital timers you talked about. Are there any u recommend? Do they use the same wiring(I think this old box is 220?) I'm game for fixing anything but my knowledge is lacking electrically. Swaping a new one of the same make is pretty easy, but if they have newer technology with say a remote control, thats seems like a nice feature. Thanks for you help, John

I've never heard of an Intermatic timer but I do recognise your symptoms. There's a 24 hour motor inside the clock. It sounds like it's burned out. They're easy to change. Two wires and two nuts. Nothing to it. But you'll need to take the original motor with you to the irrigation supply house so they know what to order. I think the last one of those I bought cost around 40 dollars. I don't know how many stations you have or how old the timer is but you might want to consider just replacing the whole unit. Those motors usually last a long time so I'm guessing it's at least 15 years old. Good luck!

Ok I just looked up the Intermatic timer on the net. I can't say I've ever taken one of those apart. It looks just like a pool timer. I don't know how the motor attaches to it or if it's even the same type I described. But that's still my guess as to what's wrong with it. Maybe you should upgrade to a digital timer.

****o all, I have an Intermatic timer and the timing wheel does not turn automatically. If I put the switch to manual the pump comes on. If its on auto it only comes on if I rotate the wheel by hand. Not too handy to fix if its servicable. Thanks for your help, John
