The solenoid might be bad.
Disconnect one of the wires from the solenoid and run the controller again. Does it still shut off? If not the solenoid is bad.
If it does then look for a problem in the wiring.
Could be the controller but that would be rarer than the solenoid or wiring.
You don't have two valves wired to come on at the same time do you?

1 of my zones turns on for 5 seconds and then shuts off?

1 of my zones turns on for 5 seconds and then shuts off? I go to the timer controls and the display is blinking as maybe to tell me there is some error? I then set the timer for that zone to start again, then that same 1 zone turns on, maybe 10 seconds later shuts off again...?
