Back out the radius adjustment screw just enough to allow removal of existing nozzle. Once out, install new nozzle and tighten radius adjustment screw enough to keep nozzle secured.
You may have a bad start capacitor in the pump motor. Your breaker may be getting weak. You may have a short in your high voltage wiring of the pump. The breaker maybe sized to small. The motor itself may be worn out. You could take the pump to an electric motor repairman who can test the motor.
They will blow it out exactly like the rest of the system. Most compressors are pressure regulated as to not exceed the limits of what a system can handle pressure wise. Provided you do a decent job making your connections, you should have no issues.

Start disconnecting wires in the controller. If you disconnect the wire on the MV post and lose all control of system, then it is for an actual master valve and must be reconnected. It appears as though you have many more valves in your yard than 5 zones. The double tap on zones 2 and 3 is a clear indication. An FYI...transformers are not brand specific. Even a 2 wire transformer will work.
The impact style are going to be your best bet for dirty water. Have you checked to see if there is a rip in the mesh sock? Perhaps you're using small nozzles. Ask WetBoots about the Rainbird Maxipaw. He's probably been waiting to jump in! I've pulled water from some mud holes before, but rarely run into plugged rotor nozzles.
What are you currently using to as a lake screen? A section of 4" PVC well screen works well. Or you could buy a lake basket and replaceable mesh bag to filter larger particles.
A ground fault locator. I should warn you, they will find every nick in the wire. I use an older Metrotec 810 wire locator that does a pretty good job of finding cut wires. Multi strand is difficult as the signal will jump to other wires.
Are you measuring resistance from the controller? Take voltage readings at the selonoid connection with the selonoid attached. In the case of a ground fault, you may get 24 volts on an unloaded circuit. Attach a selonoid and you could see a drop in voltage.
Little to no difference in dependability. If using poly line, the male by barb valves are a time/money saver. If using PVC lines, the female by female valves are used most frequently. No reason for a male by male, just seems unnatural. Keep in mind, valves are made to be serviceable. Very few reasons to have to replace an entire valve body.
There is no place for a 1/2" line trying to feed a sprinkler system. Although, a few inches of it may not cause all that much problem. From your description, it sounds as though the regulator is before the sprinkler supply line, is that correct? It is possible that is not set correctly or faulty. You would need a pressure gauge to test actual pressure. Certain shut off valves can cause constriction points in a supply line also. Waste and Stop valves get cut out of supply lines on a regular basis...
