1260 BI troubles

1260 BI troubles

ok here we go. I just realized that my timer is no longer cycling through the days and times. It just sets in a set posistion, i can manually cycle it threw my 12 stations and the valves will open and irrigate, but then it will just set on that station till i manually turn it.. So what i need to know is my 1260 is repairable,,possible causes,,,and if i do have to replace it what is the current model i should get to replace it.... thanks I`ve learned alot about in the last few months since i purchased my home but my sprinkler system DEFINITELY keeps me on my toes..

Does it keep the correct time on the actual time dial? If so all that needs to be replaced is the main station dial assembly gear. The part is roughly 20 bucks and can be changed in ten to twenty minutes. The problem is the clutch mechanism, over time it wears out and the small clutch assemblies break and fall out. If you take the controller out of its case you will probably see small white plastic tabs laying in the bottom of the cabinet. Your local irrigation tech can fix this for you for around $75.00 or so. If it were me I would repair rather than replace the timer.

Two motors operate the RC controllers. One motor advances the watering cycle wheel from the finish of one zone to the start of the next. The other motor has the dual job of keeping the time of day (and by linked gearing, the day of the week) and moving the watering cycle wheel for the actual running time of the zones being watered.

No the hour timer lags behind ,,from when i catch it up to the current time,, it falls further and further behind as the day goes by,, and my station wheel does not move either,, from what i researched those are verywell built and reliable timers ,, so i would rather just have it repaired if possible..

In that case you may also need to replace the timing motor as well. If you have a sprinkler / irrigation tech take a look at it, he will be able to diagnose it for you (to be sure). I would still replace the main gear behind the station dial (the big wheel).
