Yes, It's a RC-7B1. My wife wants more bells and whistles. We have watering restrictions she wants to program. I figure it's worth the $100 to keep the misses happy

You listed the model number as a C-71, but I am thinking you meant RC-7BI or maybe a RC-7C. If that was the case I would keep your old controller instead of switching to a newer one. The only advantage to a newer controller would be more features. The controller you presently own is completely repairable and very user friendly.
