PVC Check Valve vs PVB

I have a bad PVB on my sprinkler system, which is tied into the home's potable water. Went to Home Depot and Lowes and they both said to just use a PVC check valve.

Didn't seem right though. Can a check valve really be used instead of a PVB?

absolutely not.

a Check valve is a non testable, low hazard, unacceptable option.

It is not an option.

Backflow is a real issue with real consequences resulting in people getting sick.

The people at the box store got it wrong. :cursing:
