how to find buried control valves?

Have some buried valves that I need to find and have seen some discussion about using a piece of wire to jump and put power to the individual valves inside the controller box in order to cause the solinoid valve to make some noise. My question is from which terminal inside of a hunter pro-c do I jump from...one of the yellow wires coming from the transformer??
Thanks and any other suggestions before I go and get a valve locator would be appreciated

Turning the water off to the system and releasing the pressure out of the manifold will help you hear the solenoids.
If you need to rent a wire locator maybe rent a chatterbox while you're at it.
