Poly Pipe End-of-Line Drains
Can anyone here provide guidance as to whether or not I should install "Poly Pipe End-of-Line Drains" for each of my sprinkler lines?
I live in th North East (NJ) but dont have them installed on the system in my front yard (installed by and irrigation company). Are these devices neccesary or overkill? They are quite expensive.
Thanks,
DIYer
I installed them on my system this summer. I am hoping they will make winterization easier. I still intend to blow my lines out but i only have a 3 gal compressor and I am always concerned that I didnt get enough water out. I live in northern MI where the ground is frozen until the end of april.
Thanks,
Pete

NO the end of the line drains are overkill definatly...........we never have used them, nor ever will and 2 out of 10 contractors use them.......the small compressor is fine, except if you have over 180 foot runs, where i suggest you install another tee to blow out. becasue its too long for a small compressor..............honestly i wouldnt use them
Thanks

I have used them in the past. What I did was installed a valve drain, that you install right after the control valve, then one on the end of the lateral. I still offered a winter blow out service for everyone who had them just as a precaution incase some water didn't get out. SW sells them at the online store.
