connecting manifolds

i have 3 manifolds but the distance between each is greater than using the couplings will support. is an acceptable alternative to this problem to use buttress adapters and 1" polypipe to connect
them? alternatively i could use 1" slip adapters and pvc. is either
preferred? or is there another alternative that i have not considered.

thanks for you help

how far apart? don't use poly, sch 40 pvc is the preferred method

****o tom,

thanks for the note.

the manifolds will be separated by about 6" to 8".

thanks for your help.

I dunno why I'm having a hard time picturing it... how many valves total?

I don't like poly pipe on the manifold as well because clamps under constant pressure can have a tendency to drip... even a little constant drip will add up.

If I have a couple manifolds separated by a few inches I'll sometimes just build the entire manifold together and then elbow over to that valves line after the valve

anyway... more information and I might be able to give some more advice

thanks danabrenn.

i posted a contradictory response to one of "lush96" responses in another topic area. i guess i pissed him off! i suppose he'll get over it eventually.

****o bsme and tom,

thanks for the replies.....

i have 11 valves total. two 4 valve manifolds and
one 3 valve manifold. there is approximately 6-8 inches
separating the manifolds. it sounds like the general
concensus is sched 40 pcv with slip adapters between
each pair of manifolds.

thanks for your help.

and yes...lush just needs to get over himself.

take care all

is the forum really bleeping out the beginning part of helo?

where are you located? I'm just wondering about whether or not it freezes.

what are your sprinkler lines after the valve... pvc or poly?

also what kind of manifold are you using? prebuilt manifolds or manifold tees?

the way you got it set up now doesn't sound bad at all... if you could answer the questions though I could probably tell you exactly what i'd do...

hi bsme,

thanks for the note.

i am in the new england area...so it does freeze...
i have a mechanism for blowing out the system in the
fall to hopefully eliminate any freezing issues.

the valves are hunter pgp valves. 1" male thread on the
supply side, output has barbs for the poly pipe.

the manifolds are manufactured...i believe that they are
rainbird manifolds.

the pipes coming out of the valves are 1" poly pipe.

hope this helps.

take care
