Am I to understand you correctly? Is both your well and controller on the same circuit? If this is the case you should test to see if your well is hooked up on a 240 or a 120 volt circuit. If it is hooked up on a 240 volt circuit, you will blow the transformer in the controller. One easy way to tell (if you don't have a multi-meter or an electrician in your immediate friends and family list) is to look at the breaker for your well pump. Does it have a double pole breaker (meaning to levers / switches connected by a bar)?

The Hunter ICC-800PL does have a 240v inlet (if they have not changed it lately), but, it is for 50 hz not 60 hz (50 hz = international/ 60 hz = domestic), so the answer is no. There is a way you can get the 120v needed off of a 240v line, but, it is not to code and it is unsafe. Your best bet would be to tie into your panel and run a dedicated line to the controller, or better yet, hire an electrician. The cost of an electrician is far less than rebuilding your home or worse yet burying a loved one.

Are there no other 120v circuits or panels in that area that you can tie into? Do you have an exterior socket in the area? If so, there is a panel / weatherproof junction box, that will extend your outlet outward. This will enable you to tie into it and get your 120v and still keep your outlet. Check with your local electrical supply house and see what they have to offer.

Hire the electrician, and stick with the cheaper timer.
