Exposed swing joints

I have a zone for flowers and shrubs with Hunter spray heads in the front of my house. The heads are connected from side inlets to swing joints. A few of the swing joints are exposed above ground where they connect to the side inlet. Is this okay?

Are you in an area where the ground freezes? Freezing could cause an issue.
Important...Do NOT use the side inlet of a hi-rise spray head if you live in a climate that demands that you winterize your system. You are asking for cracked sprlinker heads come springtime.

If the above does not apply to you, and you are sure nothing will chew on them, or hit them, youre good to go.
