RPZ Re-build quote

Greetings Sprinkling Fanatics-

I have a Wilkins 975XL 1" that is failing backflow test. Local plumber has quoted $275 to rebuild and test or $600-$700 for new RPZ plus test. Looking online I find a repair kit for $66 + shipping. Repair kit includes everything: Springs, Rubber, Poppets, Seats, Relief. Back flow parts USA has a brand new Wilkins 975XL 1" RPZ for $238.

Does this seem right? Is it possible the diff in cost is really all labor and test?

Thanks, Nick

If the price seems high, you could replace the parts your self if you know how.

And call the plumber out to reinspect.

You may even order the parts and have them on site, and just pay the plumber to install the parts and retest.

But, there is a bit of skill involved with RP repair.

For some good information on my specific niche of choice try my website for pictures and information on backflow.
