PGM to PGP

I have a yardfull of Hunter PGM heads. I understand these have been replaced by the PGJ head.

When I have had to replace a PGM head, I have often just unscrewed the top of the head and replaced the "guts" of the head (the gear mechanism part) and left the housing in place (as this part is fine).

Question: Will I be able to simply drop in place the mechanism that is part of the PGJ head into the PGM housing assembly in the ground?
