Newbie! Design questions and avoiding wet spots in irregular shaped yard

Hi,

Brand new here!

I have a triangular yard - narrow at the front (on a culdesac) and wide at the back.

I've read it's best to lay it out in a triangular pattern, but am struggling to figure out how to do that with my somewhat irregular yard. It is kind of a skewed triangle, and when I start laying out the heads on paper, it looks like there will be places with overspray.

How is this avoided? I'm not sure I understand wet spots - how are they formed and what should I be aware of to avoid them?

Thanks!
