locating the box

My system is not working and I have a company coming out to service it. I have no idea where the boxes are burried, the last homeowner must have mulched over them. Does a professional have a tool to find the box, or are they going to have to dig up the yard?

Depends on the professional. Most professionals have tools for locating valves. I would suggest you insist they use a valve locator tool, instead of digging up the yard. It will take them far less time, and cause a lot less headache for both them and you. They will most likely have and use a valve locating tool.
