Alexander,
The best nozzle patterns to use in this type of area (which is very common between the street and the sidewalk areas), are the Hunter nozzles patterns you have suggested or the same patterns using Rain Bird brand nozzles. Both brands provide excellent coverage. The patterns used in this application are as follows:
Hunter:
5x30 side strip pattern: 15'(left and right for a total of 30') x 5' (in the forward direction).
5x15 corner strip pattern (either left or right corner): 15'(left or right for a total of 15') x 5'(in the forward direction).
Rain Bird:
15SST side strip pattern: 15'(left and right for a total of 30') x 4' (in the forward direction).
15EST end srrip pattern: 4'(2' left and 2' right for a total of 4') x 15'(in the forward direction).
To use these sprinkler nozzle patterns effectively in an area as describe above, the side strip patterns should be placed near the edge of the boundary line (sidewalk) and evenly spaced along the boundary line (sidewalk) no more than 15' apart. At the ends of the area, place the left corner or right corner spray nozzle if using Hunter, or if using Rain Bird, place the 15EST (end strip pattern)at each end.
