Running valves when water isd shut-off

My pressure regulator FEBCO 825Y is currently leaking out the discharge area. I have turned off the inlet valve until repairs can be made.

In the meantime, will I be causing harm if the automatic spriklek system starts its cycle, and there is no water in the system? Will I burn-out the solenoid valve?

TIA,

All the same, it wouldn't hurt to learn how to turn off the sprinkler system at the controller.

Nope, it won't hurt the valves at all or burn anything up. You can, like Wetboots said, just shut the system off at the controller. But either way is fine.
