All 6 zones out: Controller or Valves or?

Hi all -

Trying to troubeshoot. No water is coming out of the sprinklers in any of the 6 zones.

Here's what I know:

- Older Controller (non digital) is working. The timer kicks off the "dials" and it is rotating around. And when one zone is completed and goes to "OFF", the "dial" moves to the next zone and it "appears" that it is working, but no water.

- Checked the fuse. The fuse is ok.

- Dug up and cut into PVC pipe. Water pressure is fine.

- What else could it be?

Thanks, Jim

Go to the valves and check their manual operation. Check the wiring for continuity with a multimeter.

Hi there,
Is there a filter on the system. If so is it blocked up? This often happens to me and it shuts everything down. Don't know how dirty your water is. Any isolation valves on the zones turned off? Master valve turned off? Where in the pipe did you check for pressure...mailine or lateral?
Hope this helps

WE need more info...

Pump?
Master valve?
Do the valves hum when the timer tells them to come on (yes laymans terms..hum)
Any digging lately that could have cut wires?
Do you know how to use an ohmeter?

restrip and rewire the valves. corrosion on the commons is a common problem with this situation. if that doesnt work, it could still be your timer. turn a zone on.......go to the corresponding valve and make sure juice is reaching the valve. its highly unlikely that all your valves solenoids all went bad at once so its probably not that. so restrip and rewire, and then check the power going to the valves. 99 percent of the time that will be the solution.

also check the power from your clock terminals too. if it shows power to each zone at the clock and not at the valves even after you have restripped and rewired then your actuall wire is bad somewhere down the line. if none of these troubleshoots work then for some freak reason all your valves went bad at once. very very unlikely though
