assembling risers

I am using a tee fitting that is clamped in poly pipe. I need to insert a threaded nipple in the tee to connect the riser. Do I have to use teflon tape, or can I assemble them dry?

Marlex (black shiny soft) risers do not need teflon
Sch 80 (grey hard) risers you should use teflon
