Leaking Richdel at end of cycle
A bunch of water comes out at the end of the cycle (draining the zone?) from under the large round end of the Richdel 3/4 valve. Is this normal or is something broken in there? I have 5 zones and this seems to be the only one doing it.

Over a period of time, many Richdel and Irritrol valves' screws can loosen with the expansion and contraction of operation. An old diaphragm that has been compressed with age often leaks, usually under the solenoid area. Tighten the screws a bit, and if that doesn't do the job, replace the diaphragm. The squirting will undoubtedly cease....

I think the OP was speaking of an antisyphon valve, which can occasionally vent water if retracting heads push some water back towards the valves.
Hard to tell sometimes by reading....but yes i believe he was talking about the asv side.
It is normal....well kinda normal...when the asv is set too low and not above the highest heads on the line.....the water has to go somewhere...that asv is the point of least resistance....

Correct-- the ASV side. Can I put in a check(?) valve upstream to prevent this? I would rather the water stay in the line and/or slowly find its way out somewhere other than the side of my house.

Raise the ASV above the highest head is the only safe way to do it....

Even with the ASV higher than the heads (as it should be) the tight seals and strong springs of modern sprinkler heads can force back some water, and it will escape at the vacuum breaker. Placing a check valve just after the ASV would violate plumbing codes, which allow for no checks or shutoffs downstream. As long as the soil is pitched away from the house, the ASV valve hiccups won't do any harm.
