Help Please. It is driving me crazy.

Hi all, I am very new to this forum. After reading many posts, I know many people have the same problem I am running into. I need some help here.

I have 2 valves that if I turn on the timer, the water shooting distance is about half the distance compare to if I just release the External Bleed Screw only, then everything is good and working properly. I cleaned up both the Solenoids and the problem still exists, so I know the Solenoids are not the problem. When the water is running via turning on the timer, I can hear the high pitch water running through the pipe/valve. If I release the External Bleed Screw, I do not hear the high pitch water sound.

Can someone suggest what might be the problem? I try not to cut the PVC pipe and replace both the valves. If I have to do it, I will. It is just very strange to me that both values act exactly the same while the rest of the values are working fine. Any help is greatly appreciaged and Thanks in advanced!

Replacing the valves is the easiest solution. A pro would replace the diaphragm assemblies in the valves, and probe the narrow water passageways in the valve for any obstructions that impede operation.

Before replacing the WHOLE valve, try a few things. As Wet Boots sez, make sure the port below the solenoid plunger and the passageway is clear. It seems obvious that water on top of the diaphragm is being replaced nearly as fast as the port will allow it to escape disallowing the valve to open fully. This can be caused by a leaking diaphragm or even a flow control stem turned down.. have a look. A final thing to try is replace the whole valve top, i.e., gut a new valve of the same type and replace all but the body itself. If that doesn't work (considering the few minutes it takes to replace just the guts) then, by all means, replace the whole valve.
