The PGP is by far the best rotor you can buy, and they are much more easier to replace and install then you think. To take out the nozzle you can unscrew the radius adjustment screw (not all the way) and turn the water on. The nozzle will pop-out and you can see what size it is. A rack of 12 nozzles comes free with every PGP sprinkler. To install these, unscrew the old head, and realace the new one, by screwing it in. You can adjust the heads from there. The nozzle have a number on them, so make sure that the nozzle you use is the same one. There is another way to take out the nozzle. Unscrew the head, and take out the inner riser push down, and pull the nozzle out with twezers. Wait to put the nozzle in the new head, until the system is turned on and flushed with the new ones in, that way your nozzle wont clog.

Okay, I am very confused! I just had a sprinkler system installed, all heads are the Hunter PGP type... (huge lawn... 74 heads total) Anyway, did I just read the message posted here correctly that all Hunter PGP heads come with a set of 12 nozzles free? The landscape contractor that installed my system didn't give me a single extra nozzle, and for that matter only gave me 1 hex key head adjuster tool... I asked him if he had any more of the keys (knowing myself well enough to figure I would probably lose the little thing before long) since I didn't think only one would be supplied with all of those heads... he told me I needed to go to the irrigation supply house and buy another one if I ever lost the one I have. I didn't even know that the Hunter PGP had different nozzles! Should I call him and ask for my nozzles, or is giving the 12 extra nozzles with the head only the practice of the distributor not actually packaged together from the Hunter company? Okay... I guess I can calm down now... after reading that I frieked out a little!! I had many other issues with the contractor so anything new I find he has done incorrectly I tend to fly off the handle quite quickly! But I am very anxious to know about this one!

The contractor selects the correct nozzles to put in your head based on pressure, gallons per minuted, and other factors. The nozzle that is in the head should be the only one ever used unless there is a problem with it watering too much/not enough. I do the same thing, install the correct nozzle, throw the others in the set away. There is no use for them.

Like RVLI said there is no use for the other 11 nozzles then the one installed. The distrubuter supplies the contractor with enough nozzles to choose from so he is covered in every situation. The one he/ she selected is the only one you should ever use

I partially disagree. If you have a problem with the system wtering too much or too little then you wont have the nozzles to make that correction and will have to call the contractor again and he will have to come out to fix the mistake he mede in the first place and will probably charge you for it. On the other hand if it was dssigned correctly then you wont ever need them.

You can buy those keys for about 2 dollars but I do think he could have given you another one.

The nozzles i dont ever give my sustomers because all of my installations are installed correctly with the correct nozzle........as far as the keys i have a whole hunter box full of them, because i have used so many hunter rotrs, and they come free witht he heads....so i would call him up and get another one....normally i put two in every valve box on my install so when i get to a house know there is one in there!

Thank you for your replies... I understand the reason behind installing the correct nozzles for the application... it would save the contractor from having to deal with call backs from the customer regarding problems after they had changed and sampled the other nozzles... I do get that aspect... But in my situation, there are a ton of dry spots, dead spots, even where the sprinkler is pounding the side of my house (on 3 sides) because he didn't adjust the heads to spray lower/less distance so it didn't pound the house, (or maybe he should have located the heads in different spots... I don't know but I do know it shouldn't be soaking my house siding! Adjusting the arc alone would cause an entire area to get only partial coverage from other sprinkler heads) So a whole lot of tweaking the system has had to come from me... I think I have most of it handled, but I think a few of my sprinkler head locations would benefit from a different nozzle since nothing else I've tried is working at this point! But, it is just easier to go to the irrigation supply store and purchase the darn nozzles myself and try them out than to go through the trouble of getting the contractor to come back and iron out the problems! Sounds like you guys are nicer contractors to deal with than the one I hired! He was mad the entire job when digging the trenches because he didn't think my ground was as rocky as I told him it was... so I think he felt he under bid the job... Hey I told him! I spend an entire summer removing the rocks by hand and tilling in topsoil to get it to the point I could grow a lawn! I knew what was under there! But hey... I'm just blonde!

Thanks for the compelement. If it was a new installation dont you dare go buy nozzles, call him back and tell him to fix your problems, and let him know you dont want your siding to grow...(rather the lanw)....if its new then he should have figured this all out mad or not (and should fix it)!!!!!!! He has to realize that no one has strong enough vision to see what is under the ground, before installing, so the rocks should not bother him, because its in the job description..>Call him back and let me know what he says!!
