3/4" Orbit Sprinkler Valves

Good Morning, I have replaced three of the sprinkler valves with new Orbit 3/4" valves in the back yard. I do not have the valves hooked up to the timer, yet. I turn the water on and when I flip the switch on to the valve it turns on the sprinklers to that area. Until I flip the switch to the off position the spriklers stay on. What am I doing wrong?

Thank You

Nancy

Switch

Hi Hazel, so far you've done everything right it sounds like. That switch is supposed to turn on and off the individual valves. You want them in the off position during normal operation with the timer. If you want to turn one on manually just flip the switch. Every once in a while I'll run across a switch that's been turned on somehow by accident. So keep that in mind if one of the sections is on when it's not supposed to be.

Good luck!
