Water Table
In late summer my creek will dry up. How does one know where the water table is? Do you just start digging? Will I hit water? Small creek in Spring Hill KS. It's a vague question I know but I heve heard even when a creek is dry there is still water running below.
Unless you have porous soil, going deep won't help you. If the soil is sandy or gravelly, you could install a well point and pump from it. Your best indications are what your neighbors have done in similar circumstances.
