Hunter Controller 1 Zone bad

Hunter Controller 1 Zone bad

I have a Hunter Pro-C controller with 8 zones. It came equipped for zones 1 - 3. I added expansion modules and have 8 total zones connected. The system is about 2 years old.



About a year ago, zone 1 stopped turning on. There has been no change to the programming or anything else related to the installation. I already replaced the solenoid at the valve. I now operate that zone manually by turning the solenoid, but obviously this is not ideal (the dead grass in that zone can vouch for that).



What is the best way to resolve this problem? Thanks in advance for the help.

Check for a cut wire. look at your system from what works and what doesn't. Try to think if you had the phone company, Cable Company, New internet, Landscaping, Gas line, New decking, get the idea, out last year? Where did you make a landscaping change you probably have a cut wire. One way to easily check this if you don't have a volt meter is to run a temporary wire to the valve not working and see if it works. Hopefully, it is not too far. You of course can hire a pro if that sounds like too much to get in to.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think that is the problem. The controller is located right at the valves (maybe about 5 feet away on the wall adjacent to the valves, and all the valves are ganged together at the same location). The wires from the controller have a very short run to the valves.

In that case there is probably a loose wire from one valve to the other, or a bad solenoid. If you had a multimeter you could check this out. That is a very short cable run, so this should be a pretty easy fix.

I forgot how the modules come. Does the timer come with 3 or 4 zones?
Is the valve that isn't working by itself on the module or is it with other zone wires. If it is by itself the module may not be seated tightly.

Need a multimeter.
