1/2 to 3/4

I just moved into a house where all the heads are broken. I pulled out some heads and it looks like the line is 1/2 inch outlet but then they used a convertor to go from 1/2 to a 3/4 for the head.

Wouldn't going from 1/2 waterline to 3/4 head not give it the proper pressure it needs? It seems like if the waterline has a 1/2 inch outlet I should use a smaller head that is made for that size.
