are there inexpensive pressure valves available?

I'd like to put a pressure relief valve on top of my pump (where it goes from pump to water valves) in case one ever get stuck shut.

Your pump can run until it gets damaged it it's pumping into a "blind". I think having a pressure relief valve would be a good choice.

1. What would be the best pressure for relief (40lb? 50lb? whatever....)

2. Where can I find an inexpensive one that will do this function?

Relief valves are cheap enough. They do not 'snap' open, but open somewhat gradually. You can buy one at a supplier of pumps to the well-water trade.
