how to cut off head due to new shed blocking

i'm installing a new shed where a pop up (rainbird 5000) is. how do i shut it off? i've unscrewed the pop up, but it doesn't have a shut off (only on the 5000S model), so i'd like to know is there another way to disable a popup, or do i have to dig up under it to put a plug or cap?

Keep digging and install the plug or cap.
