removing heads, northeast, caps for heads??

i need to remove two sprinkler heads against my house. its an older system and the heads are at the end of runs. instead of digging up the yard i was looking for caps to shut the heads off. changing the head to accommodate the shut off caps would not be a problem. i believe the advantage of having the heads pop up without any flow would help me in the fall to locate heads to remove caps and winterize the system. i had bought mp riser caps (here)but unable to use them?? using female threaded riser..maybe for male risers?? any help would be greatly appreciated..thank you in advance!
