controller fried

I had lightning strike house across the street from me. It took out my sprinkler system. There is no power to the controller now and no visible damage to it. It is a Hunter XC (8 station). I have no idea if the solenoids were blown as well. My question is can I use any controller to replace the Hunter or do I need to get a new Hunter.

I would make sure the outlet is still working. Plug something else into it. I would reset the controller. Then if there's still no power you can swap it out with any controller you wish.

The directions on how to reset the controller are on the following link.
