Rainbird zones sometimes work

Hello all. I have a Rainbird ESP 6si system ( no rain sensor) installed professionally in 2004. Here is the problem - the first 2 zones sometimes work, sometimes don't, both in manual mode and auto. The 2 valves are located in separate boxes within 6 inches of each other. They can be turned on manually with the bleeder screw on a Rainbird valve.

The only thing that I have done so far is to reset controller by removing power, fuses and battery.

I have a multimeter to check wiring if I need to.

Thanks for all your help in advance.

It might be loose wires in those boxes. A bad splice will show on your multi-meter. Check the ohms. See what the reading is. 20-60 is normal. Infinity is broken. A high reading is a bad splice. I'd check the ground wire in those two boxes. Maybe redo the connections.

Could also be the diaphragms. Could be debris in the valve.
