knocking noise from ground control box

My ground irrigation system is running and watering, but it makes a terrible knocking sound, I guess in the pipes, and can be heard outside in the ground control box and inside the house in all the pipes. It is very loud and sounds like a drummer is in the pipes!

Any help??

You have a Water Hammer Issue

Water hammering is a fairly hard thing to diagnose. Theres many variables that can cause hammering, that are completely unrelated to each other.

I recommend to get a pro out to investigate the issues.

I just delt with a water hammering issue for a client. Read what Iposted on another forum , just to give you an idea of how hard dealing with water hammering can be sometimes.
