wire nuts

Is it necessary to use the nuts that have the silicon inside or is it ok to use the regular nuts?

If you are direct burying them..use a pentite or DBY connector from 3m..in a valve box I use King connectors (silocone filled wire nut, designed for irrigation and low voltage wiring)

If you are wiring a timer in a jbox then regular nuts are okay.

good thing to remember: If it will get wet..don't use regular nuts. If burying it...use pentites.
