Outdoor Hunter Pro-C PC-300 LCD display problem

My controller's display has become suddenly unusable because some (not all) of the LCD segments aren't coming on fully to the point where I can't really tell if I'm programming it right. I though it might be because of the contacts to the LCD might be bad but I've taken it apart and all seems well, no sign of water damage or bad capacitors etc. I did notice there is a 3.2v battery inside the controller but it still seems to be at full voltage. The controller has been in operation for about 3 years. Strangely the battery is soldered in! Isn't that going to need replacing at some point? Seems a poor choice.

If I can figure out the pinouts to the the ribbon cable I'm more inclined to build a replacement controller than buy another one. Anyone have the specs on those?

Hunter isn't going to help you mess around with their controllers - and I doubt if any professionals will either. The only time a soldering iron has been of use with modern controllers was for a capacitor replacement in one controller's power supply.

If the display is bad or the front panel. You could pay a lower price to just replace the front panel.
Some places will help you out and some won't.

It does not hurt to ask.
But the last thing you want to do is buy a display and then find out you need a whole clock.
Good Luck

Are you getting enough power to the unit? Do you have a transformer?

Did you replace the battery and get a display?
