Rainbird WRS2 Sensor Battery Issue

My one year old Rainbird WRS2 sensor battery went dead. I've replace battery three times over last several weeks. Each time battery died within a couple of days. Any idea why batteries are being drained so quickly. Manual states battery should last 4 years. Help!

Not Much help here, but that is exactly why I use the wired rain sensors. Is it true that when the battery fails the system is dead?

Sprinkler system works regardless of whether its raining or has recently rained.
