servicing my BVP

should i install a 3 piece union directly below my BVP on the feed side in case i need to service/replace it? i live in new england in case that matters.

Unions never hurt - pros never install them

Wet_Boots, as you know I'm in south east Texas and unions for freeze protection aren't seen here.
What are the downsides? Why would a pro not install them?

Pros wouldn't install unions because they would be prepared to repair a PVB rather than to swap it out.

Meh... I think that's a lame answer. It's all preference.. Unions sure make things easier . Many pro's use them and many don't.

I personally don't use unions on a install unless required by the water district. I more use them for repairs.
