Toro might be losing a contractor!

I'm considering making a switch! Aside from the Custom Command, EZ-Flo valve, and new 570 spray and nozzles, they've lost my loyalty. The last straw was the changes made to the Super 800's (K-Rain) riser seal.

if it's a K-Rain product being changed, isn't that K-Rain's fault?

Aren't you held accountable for things you put your name on?

If you blamed Orbit for defective PGP heads that were re-labeled with the green covers, well sure. Toro has made enough boo-boos to take them off any preferred list, but the odds are good that I could install a more reliable all-Toro system than an all-Hunter or all-Rainbird system, given complete freedom of choice of component selection.

Not if you wanted to stay competitive and current you couldn't.

They have a good specialty product in the Precision series or O series nozzle.

I won't speak of the other items listed, but the Precision series nozzle is all that.

I am primarily a Hunter/Rain Bird Guy.

But great technology is great technology.

if "current" is less reliable than an oldie-but-goodie, I feel no obligation to pretend that "current" is superior.

I still think a mix of products give the most reliable results.

Todd,
glad you said that on the precision nozzles.
Been trying to find someone with experience in them.

My other question would be "did K-rain change theirs also or was it a spec change from Toro?"

I can't comment on the K-Rain or Irritrol versions. But 25% of the new heads are being tossed into the warranty bin, and that's right out of the box. I've had to revert to the T5, which doesn't come with preinstalled check valves, and durability seems less than that of the 800. A slip clutch in the TR-50 would be nice.
Back to the Vision ll, 250, and 700's!
