start up

I just turned on the water to my sprinkler system, do not have the power plugged in for the time clock, and wow being new to automatic sprinklers, can not figure out why they are working? All three zones are pushing out water. How do I take care of that...... Any thoughts.

Make sure the bleeder screws and solenoids are closed.
