GatorGuy, Thanks so much for the advice and time!!

I think you hit the heart of my question/problem. I was going splice into a line that was already controlled by a valve. You saved me so much time and effort because I didn' realize that I'd have to have that valve open before activating the next valve. Thank for pointing this out now!!!!

On those root zone systems, they recommend three per tree. The idea being that if you water deep, you get good root growth. Nice idea, but a lot of work, because as you pointed out, if you hook into an existing system, something is either very dry or over soaked.
