Flacky Toro Vision I Controller

I have a 20 year old "Vision I, Toro Controller" that I really like.
For the past several months it has been unreliable.
Some days it turns on as programmed, other days it might ignore the program's turn on command.
(I can always start it manually.)

Ocassionally the "Time of Day" displayed in the LCD jumps around.
It may flash 5:30 AM when it is 9:00 AM. A little later it will be accurate again and steady.
Any Advice to repair? Or, just buy a new controller?
I saw an 8 zone Hunter at Home Depot that looked pretty good. Approx $100.
