to much resistance in zone 2

We are having some issues with our sprinkler system and we aren't sure which way to go. Some of our zones shut down early and others only stay on for two minutes. We have traced the problem to wiring in zone 2. When we test the continuity with a multimeter all of our zones check out fine, but zone 2. It has a much higher resistance reading. I know that this means that the wiring has an issue. Is this where I start to dig up my yard? And is it possible that this is causing the other zones to not work properly or did this wiring issue also damage my timer and should it be replaced?

If you take current measurements for each zone, while they are running, you may find some intermittent faults.
