irritrol r series 12 station controller

the above controller irritrol r series 12 station.



says all 8 stations are shorted even after i detach all wires



how i check for short in circuits with ohmeter?



is the controller probably bad?



also all the sprinkler solenoids have a 4 inch plastic nipple looking device wires in series to each one



what are these?

If no valve wires are connected to a controller, and the controller displays a short-circuit message, you have to suspect the controller is faulty. Just the same, unplug it, and remove the backup battery, and let it be for a few hours. Then try to get it going again.
