bleed valve

In order to get my sprinkler spraying, I have to turn the bleed valve on until the water shoots out of the bleed valve. Should I adjust the bleed valve, where there is no water coming out of the bleed valve, the sprinklers shut off. The water continues to flow after the timer is off (or after sprinklers shut down). The amount of water flowing out of the bleed valve is just too much. Please help!

None of the valves work with the controller?
If so either the controller isn't working or there's a cut wire somewhere.
I suppose all of the diaphragms could be bad.
You do not want the bleeder screws leaking all of the time.
