Can you convert a Rainbird DV valve to a DVF?

Can you convert a rainbird DV valve ( 1 inch slip ) to a DVF valve to get the flow control feature? I want to do this for a drip zone I have.

I found something on google that said to just buy a DVF and doa gut swap. Is that difficult or kind of self explanitory.

Phillips screw driver is the only tool needed! Swap the top half of the DVF with the top half of the DV in the ground. The only difference, parts wise, between the two is the cap. All other parts are interchangable.
