1/2" pipe to/from meter

I have a 1/2" lead pipe running from the city water supply to my meter, and I think a 1/2"lead pipe running from the meter to my house. It is very expensive to have the city either run a separate meter for the sprinkler or replace the existing meter with larger pipe. Will a sprinkler system work with this configuration? Thanks!

You would have to do a flow test to be sure of anything. Have you checked the pipe with a magnet, to make certain it isn't steel?
