watering foundation running drip line on different zone?

Hi all,
I am planning to have shrubs & ground covers/grass around the whole house. All will have sprinklers. I was always told every house should have a foundation drip line on its own zone. I am confused. If I already have sprinklers in flower beds, side yards.....etc. If I have additional drip line around the foundation would I be over watering it around the foundations?
thanks in advance.

You need to ensure the security of your house foundation, by whatever means are necessary. Shrub watering is secondary.
